Movement and Containment

My paintings have always been about the body. The intelligence of the body and the amazing capacity we have to process if we allow ourselves to be in the moment. There is so much we take in daily and synthesize and its taxing on our nervous systems. Using both literal actions and metaphors to calm our systems. This body of work investigates the tension of movement and containment. These two seemingly opposing forces are interconnected and support one another. The use of repetitive line is a process driven literal action for change. Line after line after line after line until real change happens. The history and evidence of being present.
